Charging on sunshine
The zappi measures what your home is exporting to the grid and sends that spare solar into your car instead. Exported power earns a few cents per kWh; the same power in your car replaces grid electricity or petrol bought at full price.
- Eco+ charges only from spare solar, pausing when there is not enough.
- Eco uses spare solar first and tops up from the grid to keep charging at the minimum rate.
- Fast charges at full power from any source, for when you need range now.
Charging speed
On single-phase power the zappi charges at up to 7 kW, adding around 40 to 50 km of range an hour for most EVs. On three-phase it can deliver up to 22 kW, though many cars accept only 7 or 11 kW from an AC charger.
Installation
We check your switchboard and main supply first. The charger needs a dedicated circuit with the right protection, and some older boards need upgrading. We can also set a supply limit so the zappi backs off automatically when the oven and air conditioner are running.
Who it suits
- Homes with solar that export a lot during the day.
- Drivers whose car is home during the day or at weekends.
- Households planning a battery later, as the zappi works alongside one.
